Use the Coppercoat Online Calculator to automatically determine the exact quantity required for your vessel based on its dimensions and hull profile.

Calculate Your Required Quantity
To ensure your vessel receives the correct level of protection and longevity, it is essential to apply the appropriate amount of material. This guide explains how to calculate total consumption based on your boat’s dimensions and hull shape.
Note: Coppercoat provides an effective coverage of 4 square metres per litre for the complete treatment
Step 1: Calculate Your Hull Area
Determine the approximate hull surface area by multiplying the Waterline Length (LWL) by the sum of the Beam and the Draft.
- Formula: Waterline Length × (Beam + Draft) = Hull Area
- Metric Conversion: If your measurements are in feet, multiply the result by 0.093 to convert the figure to square metres.

Step 2: Apply the Hull Shape Factor
Hull profiles vary considerably in surface area. Multiply the result from Step 1 by the factor that best matches your vessel type.
| Type of Vessel | Example Craft | Factor |
| Full-bodied | Motorboats, full-keel yachts, displacement craft | 1.0 |
| Medium-bodied | Large fin & skeg, or bilge-keel yachts | 0.75 |
| Light-bodied | Fin-keel yachts, performance craft | 0.60 |
Step 3: Calculate Litres Required
Coppercoat provides effective coverage of 4 square metres per litre for the complete treatment. To find your final quantity, divide the result from Step 2 by 4.
- Formula: (Hull Area × Shape Factor) ÷ 4 = Litres of Coppercoat required
Example 1: Motorboat
Vessel: 34 ft motorboat
Dimensions: LWL 30 ft, Beam 12 ft, Draft 2 ft
Hull area: 30 × (12 + 2) = 420 sq ft
Metric conversion: 420 × 0.093 = 39.06 m²
Litres required: 39.06 ÷ 4 = 9.76 litres
Final order: 10 litres
Example 2: Fin-Keeled Yacht
Vessel: 28 ft fin-keel yacht
Dimensions: LWL 26 ft, Beam 11 ft, Draft 5 ft
Hull area: 26 × (11 + 5) = 416 sq ft
Metric conversion: 416 × 0.093 = 38.68 m²
Adjusted area: 38.68 × 0.6 = 23.20 m²
Litres required: 23.20 ÷ 4 = 5.8 litres
Final order: 6 litres
